Danes Dyke was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2002 in recognition of its wildlife value and its importance to the local community. It runs for 4km across the whole of the Flamborough Headland, from the nature reserve here in the south to Cat Nab on the Bempton Cliffs in the north. It consists of two constructed features, a flat-topped bank and a west-facing ditch. Cafe & toilets available, parking or just a 30m walk across the clifftops from Park View Cottage
A beautiful place to walk Just 6 miles from Park View Cottage – Fraisthorpe is a flat, sandy beach that’s dog-friendly all year round. Refreshments available at the Cowshed Cafe. There is pay-for parking available at Auburn Farm and there’s even a box of balls available to borrow to make for a memorable dog walk every time
The Cleveland Way National Trail is a 109 mile (175 km) walking route through beautiful and ever-changing landscapes and scenery. Starting from the attractive market town of Helmsley, the route crosses the North York Moors National Park, before reaching the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea. Then it heads down the North Yorkshire coastline to Filey, just 12m away from Park View Cottage which offers a perfect place to rest and recuperate
So many beautiful walks nearby, the link above takes you to a number of routes of varying distances. The Yorkshire Wolds Way wends for 79 miles – from the banks of the Humber estuary, ending in Filey, The Wolds Way is another beautiful route that is easily accessible from Park View cottage. Alltrails is a great resource for walkers including this 17km circular that takes you all round the coast.
