No matter how energetic you feel, there's a route for all abilities nearby. Whether you're looking to take on the Hardmoors, Sewerby Parkrun, or just have a leisurely stroll along the cliffs, beach, the woodland in Danes Dyke or the well kept gardens of Sewerby Hall, you won't need to venture far to find your perfect activity

Sewerby Parkrun

Every Saturday at 9am

One of the most scenic Parkruns there is - the multi-terrain route takes you down the tarmac path towards Bridlington then loops back along the clifftops before going inland around the parkland of Sewerby Park. Sets off from the Bandstand just minutes away from Park View Cottage. Check out the website for more info and a course map

The start is right across the road from Sewerby Cottage, less than 5m walk so enjoy a well deserved pre parkrun lie in!

Hardmoors 110

The 16th edition of the Hardmoors 110 will be held on Saturday 18th May 2024

The ultimate challenge – The Hardmoors 110 Ultramarathon follows the dramatic Cleveland Way National Trail encircling the North York Moors and the Cleveland Heritage coastline. Starting in Filey, competitors have 36 hours to complete the single stage trail race, following the stunning Cleveland Heritage coastline before finishing in the market town of Helmsley

Sewerby is just 20m (11 miles) from the start line in Filey so a great location to prepare for the challenge ahead and spend a few relaxing days in a peaceful location with great places to eat and drink nearby

Ship Inn Shuffle Sewerby

Sunday 30 June 2024

With 5k, 10k and half marathon routes available take to the dramatic and scenic North East Yorkshire coastline with The Seweby Ship Inn Shuffle. Take in the sea air as you complete this course and get rewarded with a finisher’s medal, chocolate, beer and homemade pizza! See you there!

Having completed the 10km event in 2022, we highly recommend giving this a go - really friendly team organising and delicious well deserved pizza offered by the Ship Inn on your return

If you prefer to just get out there and run check out some of the routes on the Plotaroute site and do some exploring of your own! Run south down the tarmac track to Bridlington or north towards Danes Dyke and Flamborough, you’re really spoiled for choice as you head out the door of Park View Cottage.

The route shown here is a scenic 10km run along the coastal path towards Flamborough and heading back through Danes Dyke to join the main route back towards the cottage.

Danes Dyke Nature Reserve

Danes Dyke was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2002 in recognition of its wildlife value and its importance to the local community. It runs for 4km across the whole of the Flamborough Headland, from the nature reserve here in the south to Cat Nab on the Bempton Cliffs in the north. It consists of two constructed features, a flat-topped bank and a west-facing ditch. Cafe & toilets available, parking or just a 30m walk across the clifftops from Park View Cottage

Fraisthorpe Beach

A beautiful place to walk Just 6 miles from Park View Cottage – Fraisthorpe is a flat, sandy beach that’s dog-friendly all year round. Refreshments available at the Cowshed Cafe. There is pay-for parking available at Auburn Farm and there’s even a box of balls available to borrow to make for a memorable dog walk every time

Cleveland Way

The Cleveland Way National Trail is a 109 mile (175 km) walking route through beautiful and ever-changing landscapes and scenery. Starting from the attractive market town of Helmsley, the route crosses the North York Moors National Park, before reaching the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea. Then it heads down the North Yorkshire coastline to Filey, just 12m away from Park View Cottage which offers a perfect place to rest and recuperate

Flamborough & Bempton, Wolds Way

So many beautiful walks nearby, the link above takes you to a number of routes of varying distances. The Yorkshire Wolds Way wends for 79 miles – from the banks of the Humber estuary, ending in Filey, The Wolds Way is another beautiful route that is easily accessible from Park View cottage. Alltrails is a great resource for walkers including this 17km circular that takes you all round the coast.
